Overview
“Hunger doesn't take the weekend off — and for many students in Bexar County, those two days can be the hardest.”
Over 100,000 food-insecure children in the community struggle during weekends, with 10–20% facing chronic hunger.
The Rotary Club partners with Snack Pak 4 Kids nonprofit to bridge nutritional gaps. Volunteers have contributed 1,000+ hours assembling weekend food packs. The Club manages programs at Oak Grove Elementary and Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy at Gates, providing team captains and volunteers for receiving, storing, and distributing snacks.
“When kids are nourished, they're better equipped to concentrate, participate, and achieve in the classroom.”
